In light of the growing importance of electronic commerce to global trade, HKC supports developing multilateral disciplines to provide a transparent and predictable regulatory environment for electronic commerce to thrive.
HKC supports the discussion under the Work Programme on Electronic Commerce at the WTO to promote greater understanding of the subject.
In addition, in the margins of the Eleventh Ministerial Conference in 2017, 71 WTO members including HKC issued a joint statement signifying their intention to work towards future WTO negotiations on trade-related aspects of electronic commerce. HKC is participating actively in the ensuing exploratory talks which are open to all WTO members.
